From the first Zumba class I ever took, I knew I wanted to be a part of this amazing company. So, with my love of fitness and my love of dancing I decided to get licensed to teach. My certification class was so much fun! We learned the styles of dances that Zumba is based off of, and the basic steps of each style. I love all the styles of dance Zumba incorporates, but I would have to say my two favorites are Merengue and Salsa. Merengue is an upbeat style that really gets the heart rate up, and salsa is a more sensual style that works your core (it can be fast or slow). Each instructor has their own style and sometimes will do more of one style of dance than the others, but we all try to keep our classes as well balanced as humanly possible. I am guilty of doing more merengue in my classes, but I follow the basic outline of Zumba classes. I start with a 10-minute warm up, then do a few intense songs, then slow it down a little, then I end with a final stretching dance it’s usually about 10 minutes as well. Sometimes I like to mix things up and show my students a new dance or two. When I taught regularly, I would try to do a new dance every other week. I didn’t want my students to get bored, so I made sure I had a good variety of dances. I don’t teach as much as I used to, but I am still licensed to teach. I have been licensed since 2013, and it’s one of my proudest accomplishments. In future posts, I will post some of my favorite dances that you can try at home!

I’ll start this post off with a question, what is the hardest part about fitness for you? Well, for me it would have to be the want to get up and work out and maintaining a healthy diet. I think it is fair to say that everyone at one time or another has struggled when it comes to being physically fit. If you are like me and struggle with the whole process of fitness, don’t worry, I have a plan for you to succeed in your journey to fitness. I would like to disclose that I am not an expert. I am licensed Zumba Instructor however, I am not a nutritionist nor am I a personal trainer. I simply am just listing fitness tips that have worked for me. My first suggestion for those who are struggling with fitness goals is to first and foremost make a fitness plan. Do it week by week it will be easier for you because you already have a plan to go for a jog or even make a certain dinner. Once you get into the habit of making weekly fitness plans it will get a lot easier. Another tip is to take baby steps. When starting your fitness journey, if you take on too much you will get burnt out quickly, so it is better if you start off slow. For example, try drinking more water every day, working out three times a week, then when you get used to those changes you made gradually add more work outs to your list and drink even more water per week. If you need some motivation to go to the gym or work out, it could be easier if you work out with a friend. Sometimes it takes an extra push, and maybe a friend could be that push you need. Another thing to never forget is don’t give up. A lot of people struggle and can be discouraged when it comes to fitness, but don’t forget you’re not alone. If you fail, try again it gets easier after some time.
If there's one thing I love almost more than food it is fitness. I love to exercise. It has always been an amazing stress reliever for me. It is so much fun for me that I got licensed to teach Zumba in 2013. I taught for about a year until I couldn't find a place to continue teaching. I still love Zumba and teach when I can, but since 2015 I started doing Pilates. It started by looking up basic Pilates on YouTube. I came across this YouTube Channel named Blogilates. This Channel is ran by a lovely lady named Cassey Ho. She is a licensed Pilates instructor, and her work outs are amazing! I usually work out with Cassey everyday, apart from weekends because of my work schedule. I do a work out called PIIT 28. It stands for Pilates Intense Interval Training. It's seven 45 second exercises done four times each. This equals a full body work out in only 28 minutes! It sounds easy, but it is pretty intense. I love these work outs for my daily work outs. It keeps me active and builds muscle. I would definitely check out Blogilates if you want a good work out. I will post more on fitness in future posts. Have a nice day!
