Something I have always struggled with is expressing my feelings vocally. I suck at talking to people about what is on my mind. It seems every time I feel something positive or negative I freeze up and nothing comes out no matter how hard I try to get the words out. I can tell a stranger how I feel, but when it comes to someone I am close to, it’s impossible. The only way I can get out what’s on my mind is when I am angry. I still currently struggle with this, but the difference is I am working on it day by day. I started My Heart Beats New Mexico to express myself in a healthy way. Rather than express my feelings in a negative way, like yelling, I decided writing them out would be a healthier way. My blog was initially going to just be the “A Better Me” and “Just Because” sections. But I decided to add the “Food” and “Fitness” sections because I love to cook and exercise. Along with writing, cooking and exercise are ways I relax, and I figured sharing my recipes and fitness stories would be fun. My intentions were simply to express myself in a healthy way, but now I have a lot of support from friends and family. Never did I think anybody would read my blog, much less, relate to it. I couldn’t be prouder of my creation. I may not have the most followers, but the followers I do have show me so much love. My Heart Beats New Mexico is my platform to truly be myself. It’s truly therapeutic.
